The use of the 3M elastomeric masks in conjunction with appropriate particulate filters is approved for pandemic use by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States (April 20, 2020), as well as locally by the Philippine Society for Microbiology and Infectious Diseases and Philippine Hospital Infection Control Society (May 26, 2020).
The 6800 series offers superior protection compared to disposable face masks of similar protection rating (N95 to P100) due to the enclosed design protecting all facial mucosal surfaces (eyes, mouth, nose)
The facepiece is made of Silicone and Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE), combining the inert and moldable nature of silicone as it interfaces with the wearer's skin and the stability and durability of TPE.
To be used in conjunction with any bayonet type filters such as Verifynds' 3M 7093, 3M 7093C, and 3M 6003 + 3M 5n11 filter + 3M retainer 501.
